Fast model customization
Change the mesh and materials, then rig and animate it without sending a purchased No-AI asset to AI.
Two ways to customize a purchased model
- Mesh customization: change proportions, silhouette and visible details with Edit Mode, Sculpt Mode or modifiers.
- Retopology: rebuild the polygon flow for cleaner deformation, fewer polygons and easier UVs.
Retopology alone changes topology, not necessarily the design. Use both passes when the model must look more original. The marketplace license must allow modification, and the customized model remains covered by that license.
Procedure 1 · Customize and retopologize the mesh
- Duplicate the original. Keep the source mesh, rig and animations unchanged in a separate file.
- Use a neutral pose. Apply scale and work in T-pose, A-pose or the asset’s original bind pose.
- Change the visible shape. Use Proportional Editing in Edit Mode, Grab, Smooth and Inflate in Sculpt Mode, or a Lattice modifier for larger proportion changes.

Build cleaner topology. For a fast draft, search
F3 → QuadriFlow Remesh. For a controlled game mesh, use a low-poly surface with Mirror, Shrinkwrap and Poly Build over the customized model. - Preserve local detail. Bake normals from the customized high-poly copy onto the new low-poly mesh.

Restore the existing rig. Use Data Transfer with
Vertex Data → Vertex Groups → Nearest Face Interpolated, then add the original Armature modifier. - Test deformation. Bend shoulders, hips, knees, wings, jaw and tail before texturing.
Everything happens locally in Blender. Do not upload the purchased mesh, retopology, UVs, normal bake, renders or screenshots to AI.
Procedure 2 · Reskin the materials
- Fastest: a CC0 PBR material from ambientCG.
- Fully procedural: a material made only with Blender shader nodes.
- Custom style: our original sketch or pattern sent to AI, then imported into Blender.
For a purchased No-AI model, AI may see our independent sketch or generic prompt. It may not see the model, its UVs, textures, maps or renders.
Method A · CC0 image material
- Duplicate the asset. Keep the purchased source unchanged.
- Download a 2K material. Get Color, NormalGL, Roughness and AO.
- Open Shader Editor. Create a new material with a Principled BSDF shader.
- Connect the maps. Color (sRGB) goes to Base Color. NormalGL (Non-Color) goes through a Normal Map node to Normal. Roughness (Non-Color) goes to Roughness. Multiply AO over Color or keep it separate for the Unity material.
- Set Image Texture → Projection to Box. Use Object coordinates through a Mapping node and start with Blend at 0.2.
- Adjust Mapping scale. Change the material size until it fits the creature.
Method B · Pure Blender procedural material
Create these node chains in Shader Editor:
Base color
Texture Coordinate (Object) → Mapping → Noise Texture → ColorRamp → Principled Base Color
Choose two or three Wingoria colors in ColorRamp. Change Noise Scale to control the pattern size.
Surface detail
Noise Texture (higher Scale) → Bump (Strength 0.1–0.3) → Principled Normal
This creates grain, skin, stone or worn metal without an image texture.
Roughness
Noise Texture → ColorRamp → Principled Roughness
Use darker values for shinier areas and lighter values for rough areas.
Scales or cells
Voronoi Texture → ColorRamp → Bump → Principled Normal
Use Distance to Edge for cracks or scale borders. Mix it with Noise to avoid a perfect grid.
Method C · Original sketch to AI texture
- Draw the pattern, palette or material idea on paper or digitally.
- Ask AI for a seamless, flat material: no lighting, shadows, perspective or object silhouette.
- Import the generated image into Blender.
- Apply it with Box projection and add procedural Bump and Roughness nodes.
- Do not give AI the purchased model or any information extracted from it.
Create final UVs and baked maps
- Create a baking copy. Apply scale and keep the rigged source safe.
- Make a new UV map. Mark important seams or use Smart UV Project for a quick first pass.
- Switch to Cycles. Create one blank image for each final map.
- Bake Base Color. Use Diffuse with Direct and Indirect disabled.
- Bake Normal, Roughness and AO. Keep normal maps set to Non-Color.
- Save every baked image. Blender does not save generated images automatically.
- Export FBX or GLB. Import the model and baked maps into Unity.
Alternative · Create an original model with Tripo
- Start from our original sketch. Do not use a purchased No-AI asset as the image or model input.
- Use a paid Tripo plan. Save the sketch, prompt, output and applicable paid-user terms.
- Finish geometry first. In Tripo or Blender, complete segmentation, mesh customization, cleanup and retopology before rigging.
- Rig after the mesh is final. Tripo mesh-editing and remeshing operations remove existing skeletons and skin weights. Its current rig types include biped, quadruped, hexapod, octopod, avian, serpentine and aquatic.
- Export FBX or GLB. Inspect topology, UVs, weights and deformation in Blender before Unity.
A Tripo-generated model may use Tripo Auto Rig because the input is our authorized model. A purchased No-AI model must not be uploaded to Tripo.

Fast local Rigify steps
- Enable Rigify in Blender’s Add-ons preferences.
- Add the closest meta-rig: Human, Basic Quadruped, Cat, Wolf, Horse or Shark.
- Move the meta-rig bones into the joints while the model is in its bind pose.
- Click Generate Rig.
- Select the mesh, then the rig, and use Parent → Armature Deform → With Automatic Weights.
- Test extreme poses and correct bad areas in Weight Paint mode.
Animations · CC0 is optional
Animations do not have to be CC0. A purchased animation pack may be retargeted onto a Tripo-generated model when its license permits commercial game use and modification. Retarget locally and never redistribute the source clips as an animation pack.

Combining a generated model with a licensed animation does not require the animation to be CC0. Each component keeps its own license; ship them embedded in the game, not as reusable source assets.
Fast Unity humanoid retargeting
- Import the rigged Tripo character and the animation FBX or GLB.
- On the character, open Rig → Animation Type → Humanoid and create its Avatar.
- Set the animation source to Humanoid as well and verify its Avatar mapping.
- Add the clips to an Animator Controller assigned to the Tripo character.
- Enable Loop Time where needed and test feet, hands and root motion.
Unity Humanoid retargeting is for bipeds. Dragons and unusual creatures need a compatible skeleton, their included animations, or local retargeting in Blender. A humanoid animation pack cannot automatically animate a dragon.
No-AI asset boundary
Keep the mesh, UVs, original textures, renders, screenshots and baked maps inside Blender. AI creates only independent source material before it touches the purchased asset.
